SYNOPSIS: Retreat into the serenity of the Tibetan Plateau. Eight days of mindfulness, purity, and timelessness will rejuvenate the mind and the body, cleanse the spirit, and nourish the soul. We visit Lhasa, “Roof of the World” and one of the highest cities in the world to see a culture steeped in Buddhism with ancient monasteries and temples. The journey will bring us to the fresh water Lake, Yamdrok, one of the four sacred lakes in Tibet at an altitude of 4400m above sea level with a stunning view of holy Mt Nyenchen Khangsar and rich pasture land of local herdsmen. The fervor of devout Buddhist pilgrims will amaze first time visitors.
19 May / Day 1: Singapore to Chongqing by West Air
Departure at 0035hrs/ Arrival 0525hrs
Arrive mid-western city of Chongqing, China, and transfer to hotel. Check-in and refresh.
We visit the old town of Ciqikou where you will witness the architecture from the Ming and Qing dynasties. Ciqikou is also famous for its production of porcelain. Chongqing Museum is worth a visit as it showcase interesting items, artifacts and relics. Some of these artifacts can be dated back to thousands of years ago. Visit Hongya Dong, one of the earliest and well developed piers of ancient China to experience Bayu culture - an ethnic culture.

20 May / Day 2: Chongqing to Lhasa by West Air (Breakfast)
Transfer to airport for flight heading west to Lhasa. It is fascinating to watch the scenery below on the flight - the green landscape turns to the arid beauty of dusty brown of the Tibet highlands. Arrive Gongar Lhasa airport and transfer to Lhasa city. Drive along the lifeblood of Tibet - Yarlung Tsangpo River also known as the Brahmaputra in the Indian sub-continent. As we approach Lhasa city, the imposing Potala Palace looms large ahead. Once we check-in to our hotel, we take it easy as we enjoy a leisurely walk to Barkhor square which is always bustling with pilgrims and visitors alike.

21 May/ Day 3: Lhasa tours (Breakfast) 7am Yoga
Day starts with a tour of Potala palace, the imposing 13th storied winter Palace of the Dalai Lamas dominating the landscape of the city. Besides prayer halls and places of worship dedicated to different deities, immense stupas containing remains of Dalai Lamas are interred inside this historic building. Visit 7th century Jokhang Temple, the most revered pilgrimage point housing “two” image of the Young Buddha. Explore the Barkhor market, a bustling bazar.

22 May / Day 4: Lhasa - Yamdrok Lake - Lhasa (Breakfast)
Today we will take a 2 hours’ drive to Yamdrok Lake, a freshwater lake in Tibet. The drive follows the Lhasa River and winds up at Kamba la pass before gently making its way down to this beautiful lake. It offers picture perfect views. It is considered as one of the three largest sacred lakes in Tibet. Nestled among the flanks of the dull gray and green mountains, sacred Lake Yamdrok glows with various colors, like turquoise, when the sun is shining. From here, we continue to Karo La glacier, looming high above the road. We return to spend the night in Lhasa.

23 May / Day 5: Lhasa (Breakfast) 7am Yoga
Visit Drepung Monastery located at the foot of Mount Gephel. It has many historical relics, Buddhist scriptures, arts and crafts. Later in the day, we will visit the traditional Tibet Medical Institute to learn some age old methods of healing.

24 May / DAY 6: Lhasa – Tsurphu Monastery - Lhasa (Breakfast) 7am Yoga
This morning we travel about 65kms to visit the famous Tsurphu monastery. Tsurphu Monastery lies to the northwest of Lhasa to Tolung Deqen, and the altitude reaches to 4,300 meter. We will visit the villages of Yamda and Gurong. At Gurong village, we can observe the Zamba, “roasted barley” flour making process. It is a favorite staple diet among Tibetan people. Enjoy a nice day out to view a village. Return to Lhasa.

25 May / Day 7: Lhasa Free and Easy (Breakfast)
We take this day easy, allowing ourselves to take a walk in the narrow streets of the old city, catch up with souvenir bargains or relax in one of many rooftops restaurants in the Barkhor bazaar areas.
26 May / Day 8: Lhasa – Chongqing – Singapore by West Air
Departure 1055hrs/Arrival 2335hrs (Breakfast)
Pack your luggage and get ready for your journey back to Singapore. The guide will transfer you to the airport.

CHINA VISA:
FOR SINGAPORE NATIONALS - when confirmed please send passport copy for processing Tibet Travel Permit TTP.
FOR NON-SINGAPORE NATIONALS - when confirmed please send passport copies and a letter of invitation will be provided for them to apply for China visa. When they get their China visa, a copy has to be sent to agent to process Tibet Travel Permit. Please note for non-Singapore national, they have to show the original TTP to board flight in Chongqing. TTP will be sent by courier from Lhasa to the Chongqing.
